VI Peel

Everyone's skin and desired results are a little different, so the number of peels needed does vary from person to person. A single peel will result in significant skin rejuvenation, but we recommend a series of 3-6 peels for optimal results. These can be done every 4-6 weeks for the initial recommended treatment series.

VI Peels are safe and effective for most people, but there are a few contraindications. Below are a few things to notify your provider about if you are considering getting a VI Peel:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
• If you have an aspirin, hydroquinone, or phenol allergy.
• If you have active cold sores, warts, open wounds, or history of herpes simplex.
• If you are undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy within 6 months.
• If you have an autoimmune or liver disease/disorder that may weaken your immune system.

Most patients start to peel on or around day three and tend to peel for about three to four days afterward. Each person is a little different, so you may peel for more or fewer days. If this is your first peel, it is normal to peel for a longer period of time.

There are many reasons why you might not be able to see any peeling. Even if there isn't visible peeling, the VI Peel is still working and exfoliating at a cellular level to improve your skin's appearance.

Do not peel the skin that is shedding. It is recommended to use small scissors to trim the exfoliating skin, but do not peel. It is okay to gently wash your face, but do not rub excessively or use an exfoliating cleanser.

There is a complete aftercare kit provided with each VI Peel from the company. These kits include day by day instructions for the 7 days following peel application, post peel towelettes, a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and SPF. This makes the aftercare process simple for the patient and tailored to the specific peel applied.
